"You were once a yellow pumpkin
sitting on a sturdy vine,
Now you are a Jack-o'-lantern,
let your little light shine."
Here at Sarah's Silks we love celebrating festivals! Halloween is a fun one that can be spent doing activities all month that are out in nature and nurturing for young children.
Wonderful ideas for a green, earth-friendly Halloween include pumpkin patch visits, followed by pumpkin carving and baking and eating pumpkin treats. Long walks gathering fall leaves and acorns. Baking bread, making candles, sitting by the fire, and of course, dressing up!
Playsilks are one of the best, most creative tools for making your own costume. We've seen children use them to become ghosts, witches, genies, flying machines, almost anything you can imagine can be created (with a bit of added magic) with a special colored Playsilk.
Adding Face Paint makes even more characters possible - think tiger stripes on cheeks paired with a tiger Playsilk.
Trick-or-treat baskets are another great earth-friendly way to stay away from plastics. Baskets are beautiful and will be used over and over in many ways.
Leave a comment about what your children are dressing up as for Halloween and enter to win a $100 gift card to our shop!

My daughter wants to be a witch, the third year running! She loves an accessory so a broom, wand and cauldron to hold her familiar black cat stuffie are a must. My daughters desperate for her little brother to join her in wearing her old witch costume but im hoping to create something a little more woodland animal for him

My four year old daughter is deliberating between being an owl (inspired by the new addition to our leafy neighbourhood who has been hooting from the trees each night) or being a black cat. Given how often she changes her mind, we’ll need both costumes sorted for the 11th hour decision on October 31! 😂🐈⬛🦉

My son wants to be a bee this year after reading a beloved book about the work of bees in the beehive.

My son wants to be a rainbow. Not quite sure how we’re going to achieve that yet though

We will be dressing as vampires! My husband and I will be the vampires in classic old-fashioned outfits, while our bebes are little bats that have not transformed yet. The Sarah’s Silks bat wings and bat ears will be perfect for our kiddos costumes! 🥰

My children will dress up this year using costumes that my mom made for us as children. An angel, a ladybug, a bear and Santa. I love that they can wear such wonderful costumes made with so much love by their grandma.

We are making Holloween a family affair this year! Our little girl, Sydney (age 6) loves s’mores! So she is going as a marshmallow, our Son, Landon (age 8) is going as the Hershey chocolate bar and my husband and I are going as the graham crackers. Unsure if we are going to get our cat to dress up as a little bonfire, we will what I can find.

My girls change their minds about 5-10 times each before they decide what they will be on Halloween but currently we will probably have a princess, a snail, a wolf, a ballerina, a fairy, a Gryffindor student, a basketball player, a bat and an owl.
