I use playsilks soooo many ways in my classroom! Kids use them for dramatic play (I had a group of kiddos who would use them to create a path to a throne and then wear the larger ones pretending to be royalty), and I also used them for storytelling with loose parts! We had a story table where kids would use playsilks as the background/setting for the stories we created to help with storytelling to prepare them for writing eventually!

We use them as dancing scarves while listening to music

Such a great investment! Play silks take no space to store and they become 100 toys in my kids imaginations. My son uses the red silk as fire, a super hero cape, a boots, to make a bubble in water, a rocket ship fire, circus tent, the options are endless. My daughter is almost 10 and she also still plays with them. I feel after they are done with them they will go in my closet for me to wear.

My 8 month old loves to play peekaboo with his play silks! He also enjoys chewing on them and waving them around in the air! 🥰 My 4 year old niece was at our house yesterday and she used silks to build a fort! She also likes to play dress up or dance with them. These silks are truly a toy for literally any age.

Our 1 year old daughter loves to use her play silks to visualize music. She waves the silks to the beat of the music!

My daughter’s favorite thing to do with her silks is to throw them around in the air pretending they are mermaids or dolphins jumping in the ocean.

My 7 and 4 year old boys LOVE to pretend they have different powers or are different creatures with powers. For instance, my 7 year will have the power of “shooting flames” and he wraps the fire silk around his wrist in a ball to “throw fire”. My 4 year old would have powers of “weather” and has the rainbow silk and the star silk wrapped the same way and says he can “shoot lightning” or “make it rain”. They love to play this way the most and can run around forever doing it.

My daughter loves the double starry playsilk we have draped over her floor bed. She plays with it while I read to her at night, she uses it as a get-away to have some alone time, she plays peek-a-boo through it with us, and it’s a great hide and seek spot. Plus, we can take it down to make a fort in the living room which is another one of her favorite games 💙💛🌙🌟🌠

As an early childhood teacher and mother, I use playsilks all throughout our play! My favorite thing is to allow open ended play in my classroom and my home. It’s my daughter’s favorite imaginative item to play with!!
