"You were once a yellow pumpkin
sitting on a sturdy vine,
Now you are a Jack-o'-lantern,
let your little light shine."
Here at Sarah's Silks we love celebrating festivals! Halloween is a fun one that can be spent doing activities all month that are out in nature and nurturing for young children.
Wonderful ideas for a green, earth-friendly Halloween include pumpkin patch visits, followed by pumpkin carving and baking and eating pumpkin treats. Long walks gathering fall leaves and acorns. Baking bread, making candles, sitting by the fire, and of course, dressing up!
Playsilks are one of the best, most creative tools for making your own costume. We've seen children use them to become ghosts, witches, genies, flying machines, almost anything you can imagine can be created (with a bit of added magic) with a special colored Playsilk.
Adding Face Paint makes even more characters possible - think tiger stripes on cheeks paired with a tiger Playsilk.
Trick-or-treat baskets are another great earth-friendly way to stay away from plastics. Baskets are beautiful and will be used over and over in many ways.

My daughter and I have decided to be flower fairies, my son a baby goat, and we decided to make my husband’s costume be a raccoon to go along with our theme. My middle child has chosen to do his own thing, and wants to be a fan of both the local university rivals- the funny thing is that we don’t watch any sports in our home, it’s just not our thing! His grandpa loves one of the teams, I think he wants to make him laugh when he walks in the door decked out with both teams paraphernalia and his face painted half for each team 😂

Last year my two young boys and I dressed up as woodland warriors. I crafted our costumes with natural materials and up-cycled fabrics. We are still deciding what to put together for this year’s Halloween festivities. How wonderful it would be to have Sarahs silks materials to work with!

My daughter will be 7 months on Halloween. We are thinking of dressing her up as a skeleton or pumpkin… maybe even a lobster! haha. Excited to see what she will want to be for Halloween when she is older.

My kids love Halloween! My oldest (5) is obsessed with unicorns, and we got him the rainbow unicorn set. He recently learned about alicorns (unicorns with wings) and has decided he will be an alicorn instead. My middle (3) switches back and forth between wanting to be a fairy (his idea) or a pegasus (his brother’s idea for him). Either way, he definitely has wings! My baby (10 months) is going to wear a dragon costume that I thrifted years ago for his big brothers. My husband is going be a gnome, with a pointed cap and a white beard, and I am going to either a fairy or a princess.

At 16 weeks , my grandson is wearing his silk teether. He loves how he can pull it to his face and laugh. Softness, silky beauty surrounds him. He is a rainbow this year. 🌈. A future of silks to come.
