Green Halloween

Green Halloween

Green Halloween
"You were once a yellow pumpkin
sitting on a sturdy vine,
Now you are a Jack-o'-lantern,
let your little light shine."

Here at Sarah's Silks we love celebrating festivals! Halloween is a fun one that can be spent doing activities all month that are out in nature and nurturing for young children.

Wonderful ideas for a green, earth-friendly Halloween include pumpkin patch visits, followed by pumpkin carving and baking and eating pumpkin treats. Long walks gathering fall leaves and acorns. Baking bread, making candles, sitting by the fire, and of course, dressing up!

Playsilks are one of the best, most creative tools for making your own costume. We've seen children use them to become ghosts, witches, genies, flying machines, almost anything you can imagine can be created (with a bit of added magic) with a special colored Playsilk.

Adding Face Paint makes even more characters possible - think tiger stripes on cheeks paired with a tiger Playsilk.

Trick-or-treat baskets are another great earth-friendly way to stay away from plastics. Baskets are beautiful and will be used over and over in many ways.

Sarah

  • Mine plan to be a frog and a mushroom this year, using our silks and accessories! We usually DIY costumes or add a new silk piece to our collection and they play with it year round.

  • I make our costumes every year. This year my oldest is insisting that we be ghostbusters – so pray for me while try to come up with 5 ghostbuster inspired costumes 😂

  • My kid is very excited to dress up as a witch this year! We will be using our black Sarah’s Silks playsilk to help create her costume for her. I actually used the same playsilk two Halloweens ago when I was a witch to her “cat bat” using Sarah’s Silks bat wings!

  • My daughter is only 8 months old so unfortunately this year we have to buy some things for her costume but we can not wait until she is a bit bigger and can have a bin of silks and costumes to use not only on Halloween but every day of the year!

  • My two are leaning towards being dinosaurs again. They outgrew their old costumes and I was thinking of getting them the dinosaur silks. They already love their butterfly wings, so it would be a perfect addition.

  • I just received my first order, but my son’s birthday is at the beginning of October, so I’m hoping after I give him all his gifts, the kids will want to be dragons (we got all the colors!), and Daddy can be the knight who has to save Princess Mommy from the four dragons 😂

  • My son wants to be a superhero for Halloween to “fight supervillains”.

  • This is my son’s first fall/Halloween season! We’re excited to continue family traditions and create new ones as we enter the holiday season. Though my son is not able to talk yet to tell us verbally what he wants, he is great at vocally demanding his milk. He’s going to be a little milk monster for Halloween!
