Green Halloween
"You were once a yellow pumpkin
sitting on a sturdy vine,
Now you are a Jack-o'-lantern,
let your little light shine."
Here at Sarah's Silks we love celebrating festivals! Halloween is a fun one that can be spent doing activities all month that are out in nature and nurturing for young children.
Wonderful ideas for a green, earth-friendly Halloween include pumpkin patch visits, followed by pumpkin carving and baking and eating pumpkin treats. Long walks gathering fall leaves and acorns. Baking bread, making candles, sitting by the fire, and of course, dressing up!
Playsilks are one of the best, most creative tools for making your own costume. We've seen children use them to become ghosts, witches, genies, flying machines, almost anything you can imagine can be created (with a bit of added magic) with a special colored Playsilk.
Adding Face Paint makes even more characters possible - think tiger stripes on cheeks paired with a tiger Playsilk.
Trick-or-treat baskets are another great earth-friendly way to stay away from plastics. Baskets are beautiful and will be used over and over in many ways.

My oldest daughter wants to be a black cat again this year because she loves having me draw a black nose and whiskers on her! As for my youngest daughter, I’m trying to find a mouse costume for a 2 year old that doesn’t require a headband. And I’m due at the end of November with my first baby boy!

Hello all!
This year my daughter will be the classic pumpkin! I found a pumpkin costume on Etsy but it’s a wee bit expensive so I will be making it by hand! Nervous about putting my creativity skills to the test but I have optimism on my side! For the top I will be using a green playsilk from Sarah’s collection ❤️😊🌈
May you all have a wonderful Halloween!

My toddler boy is an Acorn Warrior. We’ve made a tunic out of green felt and decorated it with sewn maple leaves in various fall colors. The leaves are clustered on his shoulders like pauldrons, and across his chest like a sash. It is topped off with a crocheted acorn hat. The only thing that would make it better would be Sarah Silk’s green dagger!

My two littles are going to be a fire fighter and a pumpkin this year! We like to pretend that our silks are Fire and Water and long green pumpkin vines!

This is my baby’s first Halloween, so we’re just dressing up for fun, and I’m thinking he’ll be a knight and I’ll be a dragon (I’ll be wearing him). If I decide not to wear him, he has a little bear outfit to wear that will be really cute :)

My son wants to be a fruit bat for the third year in a row! He just grew out of last year’s costume so I’ll be getting him your bat set!

This will be my daughter’s first time trick-or-treating and she is choosing between her two favorite bugs: bumblebee or ladybug!

My daughter will be dressing up as a rainbow Warrior princess all with Sarah’s silks. She is so excited. This is her first Halloween!

My son was a white cat last year, and we plan on repurposing the white jumper he wore to make a mushroom costume with our Sarah’s silk Mushroom hat this year.
