Green Halloween

Green Halloween

Green Halloween
"You were once a yellow pumpkinĀ
sitting on a sturdy vine,
Now you are a Jack-o'-lantern,
let your little light shine."

Here at Sarah's Silks we love celebrating festivals! Halloween is a fun one that can be spent doing activities all month that are out in nature and nurturing for young children.

Wonderful ideas for a green, earth-friendly Halloween include pumpkin patch visits, followed by pumpkin carving and baking and eating pumpkin treats. Long walks gathering fall leaves and acorns. Baking bread, making candles, sitting by the fire, and of course, dressing up!

Playsilks are one of the best, most creative tools for making your own costume. We've seen children use them to become ghosts, witches, genies, flying machines, almost anything you can imagine can be created (with a bit of added magic) with a special colored Playsilk.Ā

Adding Face Paint makes even more characters possible - think tiger stripes on cheeks paired with a tiger Playsilk.Ā

Trick-or-treat baskets are another great earth-friendly way to stay away from plastics. Baskets are beautiful and will be used over and over in many ways.

Sarah

  • We do not celebrate Halloween. However, we do love to dress up all the time and pretend any where we can! Their current favorite dress up and pretend are being super heroes! When I cry out in distress, or the baby cries they call come running and ask how to help! It’s delightful haha

  • My 3 year old has lots of ideas but the two she mentions the most are a birthday cake with strawberries on top or a snail. A silk snail costume would actually be so cool! We will see if I can execute her vision.

  • I have one daughter who wants to be a unicorn ballerina one day and a black cat the next! We have so many of the silks for everyday play that I have a feeling her choice may change yet again! We LOVE the creativity that comes from free play.

  • Our small town is famous for it’s black squirrels, which are uncommon in England. My daughter will be dressed in black, with a big fluffy black tail and silk ears. She has been using papier mĆ¢chĆ© to make a large acorn that she can carry around with her and perhaps hold some sweets in šŸ–¤šŸæļøšŸ¬
