Green Halloween
"You were once a yellow pumpkin
sitting on a sturdy vine,
Now you are a Jack-o'-lantern,
let your little light shine."
Here at Sarah's Silks we love celebrating festivals! Halloween is a fun one that can be spent doing activities all month that are out in nature and nurturing for young children.
Wonderful ideas for a green, earth-friendly Halloween include pumpkin patch visits, followed by pumpkin carving and baking and eating pumpkin treats. Long walks gathering fall leaves and acorns. Baking bread, making candles, sitting by the fire, and of course, dressing up!
Playsilks are one of the best, most creative tools for making your own costume. We've seen children use them to become ghosts, witches, genies, flying machines, almost anything you can imagine can be created (with a bit of added magic) with a special colored Playsilk.
Adding Face Paint makes even more characters possible - think tiger stripes on cheeks paired with a tiger Playsilk.
Trick-or-treat baskets are another great earth-friendly way to stay away from plastics. Baskets are beautiful and will be used over and over in many ways.

Sarah
My daughter wants to be the strawberry fair from the book “Evie the strawberry fairy”. I will add some touches to her red dress, pair it with her yellow cardigan and yellow boots that she already has. I am also going to make her wings and crown, as well as a strawberry wand. I am currently making a strawberry mini doll as well.

My little one will be Frodo using clothes he already owns with a cloak we made. He’s only 15 months old right now so he’s too small to wear a Sarah’s Silks costume but I can’t wait until he can.

My youngest (4) wants to dress up as a “Bat Princess” and my oldest (6) wants to dress up as an astronaut. Last week there were police and fairies in their costume plans, so we’ll see what they pick out when the day arrives! :-)
We love having all of our play silks and silk costume pieces to grab and dress up on a whim! No packaged costumes just for Halloween over here!

I got my daughter the purple giraffe costume so she can use it for dress up year round. My daughter loves all the play options from Sarah’s silks

My oldest is excited to dress as a witch for school this year. My youngest has decided that she wants to be a cat, but not just any cat, a witch cat!

My daughter is almost 3 and she decided she wants to be a ballerina and has said it multiple times. She’s very excited for trick-or-treating. Just trying to decide what to dress my 8 month old son as now! Send me your ideas! Lol

My daughter, Delores, is 3.5yo and has made it very clear that she is going to be an “astronaut superhero cafeteria lady.” She’s never even been to a cafeteria 😅. I have the SS Space set and SS capes and masks, so I think all I need to grab is a hair net and a ladle? 😂 it’ll be a year to remember.
Her little brother, Wolfie, is 1.5yo and unimpressed when I offer him costume options. He has a favorite tutu that he wears every day, so maybe he will wear that. 🤷🏻♀️
We love Halloween. I’m just so excited to give all the neighborhood kids SS wands this year inside their goodie bags. ♥️

My baby will be a fox or I believe it’s a chipmunk! Honestly idk what it is. I got it at a local store and it’s super cute 🤣🤣.
