"You were once a yellow pumpkin
sitting on a sturdy vine,
Now you are a Jack-o'-lantern,
let your little light shine."
Here at Sarah's Silks we love celebrating festivals! Halloween is a fun one that can be spent doing activities all month that are out in nature and nurturing for young children.
Wonderful ideas for a green, earth-friendly Halloween include pumpkin patch visits, followed by pumpkin carving and baking and eating pumpkin treats. Long walks gathering fall leaves and acorns. Baking bread, making candles, sitting by the fire, and of course, dressing up!
Playsilks are one of the best, most creative tools for making your own costume. We've seen children use them to become ghosts, witches, genies, flying machines, almost anything you can imagine can be created (with a bit of added magic) with a special colored Playsilk.
Adding Face Paint makes even more characters possible - think tiger stripes on cheeks paired with a tiger Playsilk.
Trick-or-treat baskets are another great earth-friendly way to stay away from plastics. Baskets are beautiful and will be used over and over in many ways.

Our winners have been contacted by email and are:
Ashley Riley, Kimi, Patricia Barnes, Kasia, and Katrina.
I think we might actually use Sarah’s Silks this year for Halloween! We have a request for a Knight costume and have just the silks for it.

I have 3 children. Their plans so far this year include either a cat or a princess, a firefighter, and a monkey. These are always subject to change and they’d have more than one costume, if they could! We’re usually last minute trying to make accommodations for changes and what not. Because my kids absolutely LOVE to dress up!

Mine are still undecided. We usually do family costumes, last year was Peter Pan. This year were Josie and the pussy cats obsessed 😂
Amaletta on
Mine are going to be dinosaurs/jurassic park rangers 🤣
Chelsea Reilly on
My daughter will be dressing up as Cinderella!
Anna on
A little lion because the costume looked cute and comfy and easy so my son wouldn’t get annoyed with it.

My son is using the wizard hat, cape and sword. Dude just loves being a wizard.

My 5- and 2- year olds will be princesses. I’d love to make their costumes, but I also have a 6 month old, so this year we are using ready-to-wear princess dresses.
Baby brother will probably be a dinosaur!

They are going to be Beetlejuice and Lydia this year.
Laurie Storm on
My daughter wants to be a black cat for Halloween. Probably will just have her wear some cat ears and a tail and a tutu skirt!
Mia on
My two year old wants to dress as Scatman John (look him up for a laugh), he’ll have a mustache and suit/fedora, and a microphone. It’s the most silly music but also annoyingly catchy. My son became obsessed with him after hearing it. XD
Emma Lynskey on
My daughter picked out her costume months ago. She’s going to be a flamingo because her favorite color is pink. 🩷
